Lake
Nottely is a great
place to fish. It
lies in the state
of Georgia on the
southeastern edge
of the Tennessee River
watershed and is nestled
in the mountains of
the Chattahoochee
National Forest. The
reservoir features
a beach and camping
area and is a great
place for viewing
wildlife. Lake
Nottely serves a number of
purposes other than
recreation, including
flood control and
power generation.

Dam Information
Nottely
Dam is located on
the Nottely River
in north Georgia,
near the state's border
with North Carolina.
The dam was built
during World War II.
Construction of Nottely
Dam began in 1941
and was completed
in 1942. The dam is
184 feet high and
stretches 2,300 feet
across the Nottely
River. The water level
in Nottely Reservoir
varies about 17 feet
in a normal year.Nottely
has a flood-storage
capacity of 61,588
acre-feet.The generating
capacity at Nottely
Dam is 15,000 kilowatts
of electricity.
